Schools are growing foods for students to eat and getting help from Coastal Grove Farm, too
SOUTHWESTERN NS – Farm fresh local organic produce is being served in school cafeterias. In a classroom sits three hydroponic grow towers. Outdoors, raised garden beds and greenhouses are becoming part of the landscape at schools in Yarmouth, Shelburne and Digby counties.
It’s all part of the Health Promoting Schools (HPS) initiative – a whole-school approach that involves more than just encouraging students to eat well and exercise.
